Henk van der Merwe

Principal Process Engineer
As principal process engineer, Henk has had extensive experience in the petro-chemical and fertiliser
industries, which includes heat exchanger designs and verifications, distillation column design,
liquid/liquid and liquid/vapour separators, scrubber design and simulation of both steady state and
dynamic processes. He held the position of divisional director – process, at Megchem Engineering and
Drafting Services, before founding Apex Process.
Hannelie Milliës

Senior Process Engineer
Hannelie has two years experience in research in the food industry and seven years experience in the
petro-chemical industry, which includes concept, basic and detail design, as well as commissioning
assistance. Hannelie has lectured in chemical engineering and are still acting as moderator for the
Northwest University and Unisa Florida Campus.
Hazel Moller
BScChem Eng (UND)
Principal Process Engineer
Hazel has seven years experience in explosive manufacture, with emphasis on the production of
ammonium nitrate based explosives, design of effluent systems related to the explosives industry and the
optimization of the production of explosives and accessories. She was a lecturer of Chemical Engineering
for five years at University of Johannesburg and Technikon SA, during which she did research on liquid
effluent treatment using cleaner production principles. She has one year experience in gas turbine power
plant design and in coal gasification plant design.
Philip Stander
B.Eng (Chem) - PU for CHE; MBL – Unisa
Project Manager
Since Philip has made his career change from process engineer to project management he has
performed as commissioning manager for E+PC in Nigeria, project manager on the Matola tank farm
project in Mozambique and several smaller projects for E+PC at Sasol and Amplats in SA.
Quinton Coetzee
Senior Draughtsman
Quinton is the drawing office manager and have executed several detail design projects including a few
turnkey projects.
